Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM)

The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) is a multidisciplinary government organization that plays a pivotal role in the regulation, conservation, and scientific development of India’s mineral resources, excluding coal, petroleum, natural gas, atomic, and minor minerals. Initially an advisory body, it now oversees mining operations, enforces the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, and supports sustainable mining practices. IBM also provides technical consultancy, conducts mineralogical research, and maintains a national mineral inventory. It assists both central and state governments in policy formulation, auction monitoring, and post-auction compliance, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the mining sector.
